Genet Mineral Processing 2026 Learnerships Opportunities

Genet Mineral Processing (Pty) Ltd is inviting qualifying applicants from selected local communities to apply for its 2026 Learnership Opportunities in four technical trades: Fitter, Electrician, Diesel Mechanical and Boilermaker.

These technical training opportunities are suitable for applicants who have completed Grade 12 together with the required N2 technical subjects for their chosen trade. Applications close on 14 September 2026.

About the Genet Learnership Programme

The programme provides opportunities for applicants interested in developing practical technical skills towards careers in four artisan-related trades.

Although the four opportunities have similar Grade 12 requirements, each trade has its own compulsory N2 subjects. Applicants should therefore apply only for the trade that matches their completed technical subjects.

Available Learnerships

1. Fitter Learnership

Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate or Grade 12.

Academic requirements are:

  • Mathematics with at least 40%. Mathematical Literacy is not accepted or applicants may have an N3 qualification
  • Physical Science with at least 40% or an N3 qualification
  • Completed N2 with the relevant subjects

Required N2 subjects:

  • Engineering Drawing
  • Fitter Trade Theory

2. Electrician Learnership

Applicants require Grade 12 and must meet the Mathematics and Physical Science requirements.

Requirements include:

  • Mathematics with a minimum of 40%. Mathematical Literacy is not accepted or applicants may have an N3 qualification
  • Physical Science with a minimum of 40% or an N3 qualification
  • Completed N2 with the required subjects

Required N2 subjects:

  • Industrial Electronics
  • Electrical Trade Theory

3. Diesel Mechanical Learnership

Applicants require Grade 12 with:

  • Mathematics with at least 40%. Mathematical Literacy is not accepted or applicants may have an N3 qualification
  • Physical Science with at least 40% or an N3 qualification
  • Completed N2 with the relevant technical subjects

Required N2 subjects:

  • Engineering Drawing
  • Diesel Trade Theory

4. Boilermaker Learnership

Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 and meet the Mathematics and Physical Science requirements.

Requirements include:

  • Mathematics with at least 40%. Mathematical Literacy is not accepted or applicants may have an N3 qualification
  • Physical Science with at least 40% or an N3 qualification
  • Completed N2 with the relevant subjects

Required N2 subjects:

  • N2 Plater Steel and Structural Drawing
  • N2 Plating Trade Theory

Important N2 Requirement

Applicants should pay particular attention to the N2 requirement.

Candidates must have completed N2 with the relevant subjects for the trade they are applying for. Grade 12 Mathematics and Physical Science alone should therefore not be treated as meeting all the academic requirements.

Relevant N2/N3 results must also be included with the application.

Medical Examination and Assessments

Candidates must successfully pass the required medical examination.

Shortlisted applicants will also undergo a series of assessments as part of the selection process. Meeting the academic requirements does not automatically guarantee selection.

Preference will be given to employee dependants and residents of the specified local communities.
