The Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services (JICS) invites suitably qualified South Africans to apply for the Independent Correctional Centre Visitor (ICCV) Vacancies 2026. This opportunity is ideal for unemployed individuals who want to support accountability, human rights, and transparency within South Africa’s correctional services system.
Successful candidates will be appointed on a 36-month contract and placed at various correctional centres across different provinces.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / Senior Certificate
- Computer literacy and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to work under pressure
- Sound knowledge of the Batho Pele Principles
A recommendation or nomination as an ICCV by a community organisation (not older than six months) must be attached to the application.
A driver’s licence will be an added advantage.
Preference will be given to applicants residing near the correctional centre where the vacancy exists.
Duties
Successful candidates will:
- Visit correctional facilities daily
- Engage with inmates and DCS officials on complaints and concerns
- Monitor incarceration conditions and report findings
- Monitor deaths, segregation, mechanical restraints, and use of force incidents
- Support JICS officials during inspections and investigations
- Handle administrative duties, complaints, and detailed reporting
