Rio Tinto Artisan Learnership Programme 2026
Rio Tinto is inviting applications from suitably qualified and unemployed South African youth for the 2026 Artisan Learnership Programme (Occupationally Directed Qualification Trades). This programme is aimed at developing skilled artisans through structured workplace training and theoretical learning aligned with industry requirements.
Successful candidates will receive training that leads to an Occupational Trade Certificate, helping them build sustainable careers in the mining and engineering sector.

Applications are open for the following trades:
- Diesel Mechanic
- Boiler Maker
- Millwright
- Refractory Mason
- Electrician
- Mechanical Fitter
- Instrumentation
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen targeted at unemployed youth
- Must have successfully completed Grade 12 / Matric with Core Mathematics and Physical Science, or Technical Matric
- Must have a trade-related qualification
- Must possess a valid South African Driver’s License (minimum Code B)
- Must not be participating in any active SETA-funded learnership or apprenticeship programme
- Applicants should preferably reside within the King Cetshwayo District Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal
